Also known as Ladies Day, this is a huge spectacle of the four-day festival, including the day’s feature race, run in honour of the late Queen Elizabeth.

Cheltenham Day 2 Tips 2025
1:20 – Turners Novices’ Hurdle
Willie Mullins and Paul Townend have combined to win the last three renewals, and I think they’ll continue their excellent recent record this year with FINAL DEMAND. Unbeaten over hurdles, he ran out as an easy winner of a Grade 1 at the Dublin Racing Festival last month, and I fancy him beating the Challow winner, The New Lion, in what should be a fascinating race to kick off day two.
2:00 – Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase
BALLYBURN looks to have a fantastic chance of winning this, with the step up in trip set to suit and with him having the best form over both hurdles and fences. His sole defeat over fences came when runner-up to Sir Gino over a trip shorter than ideal, and stepping up in trip to three miles for the first time can see him at his best. I think he’ll be tough to beat in here.
2:40 – Coral Cup Hurdle
Dan Skelton has won the last two renewals of this with Langer Dan, and I think he could have a similar result this year with stablemate BE AWARE. The form of his runner-up effort behind Burdett Road earlier in the season has worked out well, with the winner now rated 17lbs higher, and the step back up in trip should suit. He’s been kept fresh for this and should have a big chance.
3:20 – Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase
Stumptown looks like a deserved favourite here and could be tough to beat, but it could be worth taking a chance on MISTER COFFEY. He has yet to win over fences, but he put in a huge effort to finish runner-up behind Stumptown over C&D earlier this season and is now 5 lbs better off this time around. Trainer Nicky Henderson has been keen on his chances, so he could be a good each-way bet.
4:00 – BetMGM Queen Mother Champion Chase
This race is Jonbon’s to lose, but the favourites don’t have the strongest recent record in this, and I would take a chance on SOLNESS. The ground could be crucial to his chances, but he’s impressed with winning two Grade 1s recently and could be the biggest danger to Jonbon, particularly if the ground is on the drier side.
4:40 – Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Handicap Chase
This race often throws up a big-priced winner, with eight of the last ten winners coming home at double-figure odds, and it could be worth taking a chance on DANCING ON MY OWN. He ran out a cosy winner over C&D in October 2023, and after a promising third over C&D earlier this season, he’s been kept fresh for this. He looks to have a good chance at a big price.
5:20 – Weatherbys Champion Bumper
It was hard not to be impressed with how easily GAMEOFINCHES won his bumper at Punchestown last month, and with Willie Mullins winning four of the last five renewals, he should have a huge chance of winning. Stablemate Copacabana could prove the biggest danger, but of the two, I’d soon side with Gameofinches.

Pointers for the Cheltenham Day 2 Feature Race
With seven races taking place again on Day 2, we have examined three of the most exciting and competitive races coming up!
The BetMGM Queen Mother Champion Steeple Chase
The Cheltenham Day 2 feature race sees runners jump 13 fences over the course of two miles. It is open to horses aged five or older and is run on the Cheltenham old course. It is an event for the best two-mile chasers and often features some of the best from Britain and Ireland. Fans, punters, and racegoers watch on as they tackle the unique course. The last four winners of the Champion Chase have come from the stables of either Henry De Bromhead or Willie Mullins, and with both their previous winners returning again in 2025, it is sure to be a cracker!
The Coral Cup Hurdle (A Handicap Hurdle Race) (Premier Handicap)
One of the great spectacles of the festival, The Coral Cup, showcases some of the best four-year-olds and over across two miles and five furlongs of the Old Course. History was made last year as Dan Skelton and Harry Skelton secured the win for a second year in a row, with Langer Dan the first to do. Lined up and looking to secure a third win and make more history is Langer Dan, as well as some of the other top racehorses in the sport.
The Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Handicap Steeple Chase Challenge Cup (Premier Handicap)
The Grand Annual Chase is the oldest race of the entire festival. Run on the Old Course; it has 13 fences to jump over a distance of two miles. It is the penultimate race on Day 2 of the festival and is one of the most competitive at bookmakers! The 2024 race was won by Unexpected Party from the Skelton family stables, a runner who is due to return again this year looking to retain his crown. If you are after some Day 2 Cheltenham tips, that may be one worth checking out.

Check Out Day 2 Trends and Highlights

When it comes to Cheltenham Day 2 tips, it is always worthwhile exploring successful trainers or partnerships between trainers and jockeys; for example, the Champion Chase is a strong event for Irish trainers. Also, check if any champions from last year are returning to defend their title.
Research the Trainers
It goes without saying that having a good trainer can, more often than not, mean that a horse is going to be one of the front runners in a race. It is one of the top Day 2 Cheltenham tips to back horses from top trainers’ paddocks. In particular, look out for those belonging to top Irish trainers, including Willie Mullins, Henry De Bromhead and Gordon Elliott, as well as British trainers like Nicky Henderson and Dan Skelton.
Compare Odds of Top Betting Sites
With so many different bookmakers being promoted, especially around the festival, there are so many options available to bettors. Consider Each Way Betting
Each-way betting involves placing two bets on the same horse in the same race. You are betting on them to win the race and or to finish in the places. This gives bettors more security when placing bets, as more than one outcome is possible for a potential payout, and the punter’s selected horse does not need to win for the wager to pay out. The majority of the top Cheltenham betting sites will offer this betting option to punters, and it is one of the smartest ways to bet throughout the event.
