Rochdale Half Marathon, 10K & Fun Run cancelled this year

Organisers of Rochdale Half Marathon, 10K & Fun Run have announced the event won’t be taking place this year while a review is undertaken to explore options.

The annual races, usually staged in October attract over 1,300 runners from across the north of England but will be paused this year, according to Rochdale Borough Council.

The event was cancelled due to the pandemic in 2020, before returning with restrictions in place and a reduced number of participants in 2021.

In 2022 it was forced to take another break due to ongoing work around Rochdale Town Hall where the races start and finish.

Councillor Sue Smith said:  “The past four years have been challenging for this event and we need time to thoroughly review it and plan how it could look in the future. We need to carefully consider our options, make some changes and appoint a new race director, and will be updating everyone on our plans later this year.

“We still have an exciting year of major events to look forward to including the return of Rochdale Feel Good Festival and the Feel Good Family Picnic’s this summer, together with our new Wild Wanders outdoor environmental arts event in October and much more.”

Further information and updates about the 2024 event when available will be at rochdale.gov.uk/run
