“He very nearly made it”: Body found in search for TV doctor Michael Mosley

A body has been found in the search for the TV and radio presenter Michael Mosley.

The 67-year-old doctor was reported missing whilst on holiday on the Greek island of Symi (pictured).

He had been on the beach with his wife but decided to make tracks back to their accommodation after reporting feeling unwell, but he failed to make it back.

New CCTV footage appears to show him disappear from view as he makes his way down a rugged hillside, where his body was found.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place today.

Dr Mosley’s body was found on a hillside near the Agia Marina beach bar on Sunday.

His wife Claire, paid tribute to her “brilliant” husband. She said: “We had an incredibly lucky life together. We loved each other very much and were so happy together.”

“We’re taking comfort in the fact that he so very nearly made it.

“He did an incredible climb, took the wrong route and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen by the extensive search team.”

Dr Mosley studied medicine in London and qualified as a doctor. For the past two decades, he has worked as a presenter, documentary maker, journalist, and author.

He gained recognition for his TV programmes, such as “Trust Me, I’m a Doctor,” and for his “Just One Thing” podcast on BBC Radio 4. He also appeared on ITV’s This Morning and wrote a column for the Daily Mail.

He was also a prominent advocate for intermittent fasting diets, promoting the 5:2 diet and The Fast 800 diet.
