Manchester United have confirmed midfielder Mason Mount has returned to first-team training ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool.
Mount has endured a torrid first season at Old Trafford, having arrived from Chelsea in a £55million deal last summer.
The midfielder’s playing time has been limited by injuries, with a calf problem keeping the 25-year-old out for the last four months.

Mount has made just eight Premier League appearances for Erik ten Hag’s team, who sit sixth in the table and are currently eight points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Villa.
His last outing came in a nervy 1-0 win over Luton Town in early November, and he has only registered one goal involvement in all competitions for the club, managing an assist in an EFL Cup win over Crystal Palace in September.
An update released by the club on Tuesday did not confirm whether Mount will be available for Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Liverpool, but he will certainly expect to be involved after the upcoming international break.
United are hoping to have Rasmus Hojlund, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka back for Sunday’s quarter-final, though Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial are long-term absentees.
