Stockport police seize £30,000 of illegal vapes

A day of police action in Stockport has seen an array of offensive weapons and thousands of illegal vapes seized.

Operation Rimini is Stockport Central Neighbourhood Policing Team’s response to criminal activity in the town centre.

Sergeant James Senior said: “We carry out these days of action in response to feedback from traders. We are always out and about in the town centre all the time but these days of action allow us to commit extra resources to addressing concerns and tackling criminality.”

Police say they will continue with the action for the rest of the year and throughout 2024.

Officers arrested one person for selling counterfeit perfume and conducted several stop-searches.

A motor vehicle was stopped and seized, with officers recovering two knuckle dusters and mobile phones believed to have been stolen.

And, in conjunction with Stockport Council Trading Standards, seized £30,000 of illegal vapes.
