Mr and Miss Olympia Finals 2023 Preview
All eyes will be squarely fixed on the reigning champion, Hadi Choopan, who made history in 2022 as the competition’s first-ever Iranian champion. Choopan dominated the competition last year, setting a high standard for this year’s title defense.
Nonetheless, Choopan faces a formidable challenge as he strives to retain his title. He must once again outshine a highly competitive field. Among his challengers, Dereck Lunsford and Nick Walker, who finished second and third in 2022, are determined to seize their first Mr. Olympia title. The former champion, Brandon Curry, is also back in the mix after finishing fourth in the previous year.
Lunsford appears to be the frontrunner to achieve bodybuilding greatness and claim the coveted $400,000 grand prize.
Eight-time champion Ronnie Coleman believes Choopan will have a tough time defending his title and foresees Lunsford pulling off an upset victory in Orlando. According to Coleman, “It’s going to be one of the biggest upsets in the sport of bodybuilding ever.”
Mr. Olympia’s pre-judging took place on Friday night, setting the stage for the most significant night in bodybuilding.
Where to Watch Bikini Olympia 2023?
For watching the event on television, fans can choose from multiple options: Apple TV, Roku, Android TV, Fire TV, and Chromecast.
On a mobile phone, one can download the mobile app on iPhone, iPad, and Android from the app store or Google Play store.
While this year’s field remains exceptionally talented, one prominent name won’t be competing. Two-time champion Ramy “Big Ramy” Elssbiay, considered one of the greats of his generation, announced in September that he couldn’t attend Mr. Olympia due to ongoing elbow issues. Although he was a favorite to win in 2022 before Choopan’s victory, Elssbiay will need to wait a bit longer to join the elite group of three-time champions.
“We are working towards improving ourselves for future shows, so I believe it is the best choice for me right now,” Elssbiay explained.
With two titles, Elssbiay is tied with Franco Columbu and Larry Scott for the ninth-most championships in history. Ronnie Coleman and Lee Haney share the record with eight championships each.
