Double Celebrations for ADT Workplace at BCO Northern Awards

Commercial interior design, build and delivery specialist, ADT Workplace was recognised for two prestigious British Council for Offices Northern Awards. Its work with US-based software company, Couchbase, scooped the top spot in the Projects up to 1,500m2 category, while the redevelopment of the Trinity building in Manchester city centre was recognised as Highly Commended in the Refurbished/Recycled Workplace category.

The renowned BCO Awards are widely respected within the commercial property sector and showcase the very best of British office design, awarding those who demonstrate not only ingenuity and clever design as well as the ability to deliver on time and in budget.

Couchbase was looking to create an office space which would accommodate its rapidly growing workforce and be fit-for-purpose for at least the next five years. ADT Workplace worked with investor/landlord Helical Plc, Savills as project managers, Artelier Arhitects and Market Taylor M&E, to transform 35 Dale Street, a Grade II listed building in the Northern Quarter, into a high tech, modern office space for Couchbase. Through close collaboration with Helical Plc, Couchbase and the CAT A professional team, as well as with Savils as The CAT B project managers, the space now boasts the very best connectivity and high tech infrastructure throughout, and includes quirky design concepts which make best use of the unusual space, utilising the building’s original features and highlighting its unique character. On why the project won, the judges said that, ‘An unconventional space was transformed into a bespoke, uplifting workplace fit for the future.’

ADT Workplace was also the CAT A contractor for the redevelopment of the Trinity building, located in the heart of Manchester’s business community. Providing 56,694 sq.ft of first-class commercial workspace, the heritage building was expertly remodelled to infill a 30m atrium, create an additional floor and striking entrance area.

Commenting on the wins, David Clemetson, co-founder of ADT Workplace said: “Being recognised by the British Council for Offices for these coveted awards is testament to the skill, passion and dedication of everyone involved in both projects, so we are absolutely delighted and really proud that all partners were able to work collaboratively to deliver such a fantastic result. The standard of entries this year was exceptional, so congratulations to all those shortlisted and to the lucky winners – it’s great to have a reason to celebrate in what has been a challenging year for everyone across the sector.”

David Haikney, VP, Technical Support at Couchbase said: “From our very first meeting, we were impressed with the team at ADT Workplace, and this continued throughout the project. The finished result blew us away and more than exceeded expectations, giving staff a renewed sense of pride in where they work and a place we are excited to bring customers to. We are really proud to have won this BCO Award and are looking forward to celebrating with our team.”

Both projects will now be put forward to the grand finale at the national BCO Awards which will take place on Tuesday 26th January 2021, where the regional winners will be brought together virtually for the fiercely fought national titles.
