MHA welcomes new hotels as boom continues

The man at the helm of the city region’s hotel sector has welcomed the new hotels that are due to open in 2019.

Adrian Ellis, Chair of Manchester Hoteliers’ Association, said openings including Dakota Manchester, Native Manchester in London Warehouse and Stock Exchange will enhance the city’s already strong position as an international destination.

“Quality hotels and hospitality help attract more travellers and tourists,” said Adrian. “We welcome the soon-to-open Dakota Manchester as well as Stock Exchange and London Warehouse which are due to open later in 2019.”

The region’s current hotel pipeline is strong, according to Visit Manchester, with 6,225 new rooms confirmed for Greater Manchester from new openings and property extensions, a growth of 25% on the current supply.

In terms of Manchester city centre, a planned 3,410 rooms are due to come on board that would increase the current supply by 33%.

This follows the openings of Whitworth Locke and Hotel Indigo in Manchester city centre towards the end of 2018.

Adrian, who has served as chair of hoteliers’ associations in major European and Asian cities during almost two decades spent working in hospitality, added: “Hoteliers across the city region are already giving people great products on many different levels and competition is strong.

“But new hotels mean new jobs and the opportunity to attract and retain the best talent in our sector, which is one of MHA’s four key initiatives.”
