TickX announces first Chief Marketing Officer

TickX – the UK’s leading search engine and discovery platform for events & attractions tickets – announced today that former PureGym Marketing Director, Paul Kirwin, has been appointed the company’s first Chief Marketing Officer.

In this role, Mr. Kirwin will be responsible for all of TickX marketing initiatives, including the company’s expansion into Europe following its recent £3 million investment round, led by BGF Ventures. He will also lead the marketing strategy and campaign delivery for new services that TickX will be rolling out in the coming months.

He joins TickX from PureGym, where he created and led the marketing team, driving the company from a young startup to a £600 million+ company in just six years.  As Marketing Director, Mr. Kirwin was responsible for PureGym’s marketing, brand and acquisition strategy, growing to 200 gyms and building an active membership base over 1 million + across the UK. The company became the largest gym operator in the UK and was acquired by Leonard Green private equity house for over £600 million in 2017.

Paul Kirwin, Chief Marketing Officer, TickX, said: “I’ve been aware of TickX for some time and the growth of the business since they launched is impressive. There is a massive opportunity for a billion-pound aggregator to break the entertainment ticketing industry and that’s where I believe we can take TickX. I’m delighted to join the team at this exciting time and can’t wait to start the challenge.”

Steve Pearce, CEO, TickX, said: “We couldn’t be happier that Paul has joined the TickX team. Marketing will play a key role in taking TickX to the next level as we target rapid international expansion in the coming months and we’re pleased to have hired one of the best marketing professionals in the country to help achieve our goals. At PureGym, Paul’s ground-breaking marketing, acquisition and brand strategies helped grow a young company to market leader in just a few years. We’re excited to work with Paul as he leads the TickX marketing team to help achieve our mission of becoming global go-to destination for entertainment tickets.”

In addition to recruiting a new Chief Marketing Officer, TickX also welcomes Rory Burns to the team as Performance Marketing Director. Formerly Head of Performance Marketing at The Hut Group – one of the UK’s most successful start-ups – where he drove the £20m+ customer acquisition strategy for one of the largest e-commerce companies in Europe.

TickX is the one-stop for customers to find and buy tickets to over 125,000 events and attractions, including gigs, comedy, sport, theatre, festivals and club nights, with over one million customers using TickX last year to plan their day or night out.

TickX is available to customers across UK, Ireland and Spain online or via the TickX app, with further expansion across Europe coming soon.
