GreaterSport wins Best Sporting Initiative at Manchester Awards

GreaterSport have won the Best Sporting Initiative award at the Manchester Awards. GreaterSport is a Greater Manchester charity aiming to change lives through physical activity and sport.

The Manchester Awards celebrate the achievements of the Manchester community – the people and the businesses that work tirelessly to make a difference and contribute to the development of the city we all love.

The ceremony, held at Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel on 24th October, saw awards handed out to individuals, businesses and organisations from a wide range of sectors.

Earlier this year, Greater Manchester reached its target of getting 1 million people moving across the region, our aim now is to reach 2 million by 2021 and really evidence how an active life can change lives for the better.

Matt Johnson, Deputy CEO of GreaterSport, said: “We are thrilled to have won this award on behalf of the sector, recognising the work that GreaterSport does with its strong network of partners across Greater Manchester. Together we have achieved this success with our partners and the dedicated team at GreaterSport

This is the third award that GreaterSport have picked up in the last 5 weeks following the success of GreaterSport Chairman Chris Brindley and CEO Yvonne Harrison who respectively won Non-Executive Director of the Year and Rising CEO Star.
