MANCHESTER SKYLINE BOOSTS BOLLINGTON BUSINESS

The founders of a Bollington-based business have been glued to the television this month – but for all the right reasons. LUNAR Aerial Imaging’s drone footage of Manchester from the air has featured on two primetime television series in the last two weeks with more television and film appearances due in the coming weeks and months.

Viewers were first treated to from LUNAR’s footage of Didsbury from the air during the second episode of much-loved ITV1 comedy drama Cold Feet. This was quickly followed by Lunar’s aerial footage of Manchester by night in the opening and closing credits of four-part BBC documentary, The Detectives: Murder on the Streets, which first aired on Wednesday 20 September and follows Manchester’s murder detectives over the course of one year.

Greg Chivers, creative and operations director at LUNAR Aerial Imaging, said: “The demand for our stock footage has been growing and we’ve recently set up a stock footage library to allow clients to buy existing aerial footage of Manchester, Salford, Leeds and Bristol. The director of Cold Feet contacted us looking for footage of Didsbury and at that stage we didn’t have any so I offered to go out that evening and capture the footage they needed, they were delighted with the result.” Greg Chivers preparing to launch one of LUNARs multi rotor drone scaled

The screen credits don’t stop there with LUNAR having filmed in Nottingham for series three of CBBC’sJamie Johnson Returns and for Manchester horror movie Habit which is set for release later this year. LUNAR also donated their aerial footage of Manchester for use in the promotional trailer for Ariana Grande’s One Love concert in June and regularly captures promotional footage of the city for client Marketing Manchester.

Established in 2015 by Greg and Jinny Chivers, LUNAR operates a range of multi-rotor drones with camera and imaging systems. The company has secured a permission for commercial operation from the Civil Aviation Authority and have since flown their drones at a range of locations throughout the UK and abroad. As well as production companies, LUNAR works with a range of corporate clients in the property and construction sectors producing still and moving images of site progress and also images used for CGI by property development companies.

Greg Chivers added: “We are passionate about capturing compelling imagery using drones and fly our drones over land, over water, night or day, indoors and outdoors. It is fantastic to see our footage appearing on the big and small screen and we are excited about the increasing number of enquiries we are getting from production companies – both for footage from our stock library and for bespoke jobs.”
